FEBRUARY/MARCH SPECIAL
February 5th, 2010 by Toccara No comments »NO MORE ORDER MINIMUMS!
February 5th, 2010 by Toccara No comments »In an effort to better serve our customers, Koko Bean is announcing the removal of our $200 order minimum. We will no longer have any order minimums! In-lieu of a wholesale order minimum requirement, Koko Bean will now automatically assess a surcharge of $15 for all orders under $200 during the check-out process. This surcharge helps protect our wholesale clients who sell our garments as individual blanks so that their customers can not buy individual pieces through us at less-than retail prices. The $15 Low Order Fee also helps us stay true to the wholesale model on which we are based. We hope this will help you and your business grow!

Holiday Baby Clothing Design Ideas for the Successful Business
December 3rd, 2009 by Toccara No comments »
The holidays are fast approaching and as a baby clothing designer you are probably looking for some new, fun ways to decorate the toddler clothes you sell to the boutiques. Below are some holiday baby clothing design ideas that will contribute to the growth of your baby clothing business.
Holiday Baby Clothes
Purchasing blank baby onesies, shirts, and other articles in classic Christmas and Hanukkah colors like red, green and blue is a great idea! All you have to do is add a small embellishment, whether it be a gold bow, more fabric, crystals, or a cute saying like “1% naughty, 99% nice” or “Baby’s First Christmas” and you have an adorable outfit to sell. You can research baby blank clothing wholesalers to see if any of them offer a special sale on these colored items before the holiday season.
Before purchasing blank baby clothes, consider items that are in higher demand through the winter months, such as long sleeve shirts, pants, beanies, and snapsuits since these are the baby clothing products that boutiques want to sell in cooler weather. This may affect the holiday line and designs that you offer.
Taking it Further
Take it further by customizing the baby clothes you sell. This is very easy to do if you have an online shop through a website like Ebay or ETSY. Make sure to display a digital photo of what the custom baby onesie or shirt would look like with a “Your Name Here” placeholder for baby’s name. Heat transfers, embroidery, screen prints, etc. are great ways to offer this custom holiday baby gift.
Another way to take it further is to offer baby clothing sets. Find a blank children clothing wholesaler that offers many different styles so that you can mix and match with hats, snapsuits, pants, shirts, burp cloths, bibs, etc. Perhaps you can purchase a green baby onesie and add red and gold embellishments to it while including a red beanie and burp cloth with green and gold embellishments on them to make a complete, unique set. Grouping similar baby clothing items together helps to increase the retail value. Think outside the box for ways to add value to the items you are selling.
Saving Money
We are all looking for ways to save money these days, even when it comes to designing baby clothes. Some money saving ideas when you design your holiday baby clothing line this season include purchasing blank white garments instead of more expensive colored ones. The embellishments you add to your white baby onesies can include holiday themed colors and patterns instead, which brings down the total cost of the garment and increase your profits.
You can also purchase in bulk from a baby clothing wholesaler that offers quantity pricing discounts to help bring down your per-item cost. Think ahead toward the upcoming year and decide what baby blanks you can afford to purchase in bulk and still use in the coming months. For example, purchase a few extra red lap tees or onesies that you can use for not only Christmas, but Valentine’s Day and 4th of July as well.
Key to Success
The key to success as a baby clothing designer this holiday season is to make it personal, keep it affordable, and create a lasting impression. Make sure to keep your holiday line cohesive and simple, but most importantly unique. Start your research several months in advance by talking with boutique owners to see what clothing designs and styles would best fit their customers. You can also start comparison shopping for blank children and baby clothes several months in advance to find the best deals. With a lot of hard work, the holidays can truly be a great time to grow your baby clothing business and showcase your best design ideas.
Setting Your Baby Clothing Line Apart
December 3rd, 2009 by Toccara No comments »
Now-a-days it is really hard to find a way to make your product unique. Many baby clothing designers struggle to stand apart from the rest by offering a truly unique product. Below are some ideas that may help get your creative juices flowing so that you too can offer your customers a truly one-of-a-kind baby gift.
Stamp It!
Something that may be really cute is to “stamp” all your baby clothes with a unique saying, drawing, logo, etc. For example, hide a fortune inside all your baby shirts toward the bottom, like a fortune cookie. Come up with a different fortune for all your different styles. This would be a great hit with customers!
Another idea would be to create a different character, symbol, or drawing to hide inside all your baby garments or to proudly display on the sleeve or back collar. For example, we used to put a Hawaii Island chain on the back collar or sleeve of all our garments. Sometimes we would put a Hawaiian fish hook or an “I Love (Heart) HI”. Our customers loved this, especially since it made the garment special and unique to Hawaii. One idea is to use different kanji symbols that mean “Love” or “Peace”, etc. inside your garments. These small touches really add value to your baby clothing line. It is these small details that really make a big difference.
Line It!
Something that is really fun and unique is to use different fabrics for the inside of your baby clothes (like a purse that is brown on the outside with a polka-dot lining on the inside). Purchase a blank baby garment and use different fabric with a fun pattern for your logo/label. Then use bright colored stitches to sew your fabric label on to the garment so that it really stands out and makes a statement. You could buy a red onesie for example and use zebra print fabric for your logo, and red thread to sew it on. The bright stitches showing on the outside will also add intrigue as people will want to know what is on the inside. When they look they will see your logo, which is great advertizing!
Funktify It!
Everyone loves funky, unique items, especially when it comes to babies and children. Think of embellishments you could add to blank garments that would turn heads. One idea is to put animal ears on top of a baby beanie or hat. Or perhaps you could add eyes and a mouth to the feet of pajamas. Another idea is to buy a blank baby onesie and sew a skirt or tutu on to it in really crazy colors. The goal is to be both unique and funky at the same time. Clothing designers with a niche market and a unique look will always find customers.
In conclusion, the best way to set your clothing line apart is to create your own unique look and run with it. With so many great items already out there, you really need to think outside the box. You will need to be creative and offer a product that has that “wow” factor over your competitors. The best way to get in the doors of a boutique is to put a smile on the owner’s face. You can do this by unveiling the special little touch you added to all your garments (like a unique “stamp” or lining), or by creating a really funky and fun look that is hard-to-find and very marketable. Just think of the last time a baby clothing item turned your head in a store and ask yourself what it was about that item that you really liked. Then get your creative juices flowing, find some inspiration, and you are ready to design your own unique line of baby clothes!
New Items and Updates for 2010
December 1st, 2009 by Toccara No comments »Koko Bean is excited to add a new style and print to our 2010 line of blank baby and children’s clothes. We will be adding a giraffe print to all eleven styles we carry. We will also be adding an exclusive dress/bloomer set up to size 6-12 months in the following colors:
- Black (regular and organic cotton)
- White (regular and organic cotton)
- Natural (organic cotton)
- Leopard Print (regular cotton)
- Zebra Print (regular cotton)
- Giraffe Print (regular cotton)
We are thrilled to be the only blank wholesaler offering a dress/bloomer set for babies and one of very few to offer animal prints. The next style we are hoping to offer our customers in 2010 will be a singlet/tank top option. We are always listening to our customers and what they want, which is why we have the dress/bloomer set and why we will be adding singlets/tank tops as well. If you have any other great ideas, especially for harder-to-find items, please let us know!
Koko Bean is also increasing the GSM (thickness/weight) of our bibs, beanies, and burp cloths so that you have an even higher quality accessory item to offer to your customers. The fabric for all our animal and camo print items will be changing as well, from an interlock to a heavy jersey cotton, allowing for a nicer print and higher quality product.
Koko Bean re-stocks on a color-rotation basis through out the year. We are expecting an early 2010 shipment that will restock the following colors for all styles:
- Black (regular and organic cotton)
- White (regular and organic cotton)
- Natural (organic cotton)
- Leopard Print (regular cotton)
- Zebra Print (regular cotton)
- Giraffe Print (regular cotton)
We will update our customers with an expected arrival date next month. We will be re-stocking all other colors later in the 2010 year.
Sneak Peak at 2010 Wholesale Baby Blank Prices
December 1st, 2009 by Toccara No comments »Koko Bean will be updating our Wholesale Price List for the 2010 year. We have attached our newly revised price list below for your review. We will also include a hard copy for your records with your first 2010 order. We will be updating the website in January with our new prices. You may notice that our base prices for wholesale baby blanks have increased slightly, however our quantity discounts have also increased. This means customers who order in bulk will not see any price increases and may in fact save money from the previous year. On the flip-side, customers who order in small quantities will see a very small increase in price per piece. These increases are necessary as we continue to improve the quality of the garments we offer, ultimately leading to higher retail pricing for our wholesale customers. We hope you appreciate our continued effort to supply high quality baby and children blank clothing.

New Lower Rates Through UPS
December 1st, 2009 by Toccara No comments »
We have negotiated lower rates with UPS in our continuing effort to keep costs down for our customers. Koko Bean is a Hawaii-based company, and therefore our customers pay slightly more to have orders shipped to them due solely to our location. We thank you for your continued support, even when shipping costs slightly more through us than some of our counterparts. Our customers always come first and we are happy to pass the savings on to you so that you can continue to order quality baby blanks through us at affordable prices.
You will see new, lower UPS rates through our “Estimate Shipping” calculator on the bottom left side of your shopping cart. Shipping rates are based on the weight of your order, so please make sure to fill your cart first to get an accurate shipping quote.
